First “Fridays in the Forge” this Year Draws Large Crowd

The first “Fridays in the Forge” event kicked off on June 30 and attracted a large crowd of Clifton Forge residents. Several vendors were set up outside; one selling clothing items, another selling adult beverages; The Flower Shop was present to hand out fresh flowers to the random passersby as Jenny Oeltjen of Livy’s Closet passed out samples of cider inside her consignment shop.

Several residents were set up in front of the bank with lawn chairs, chatting away and singing along to the local band, Alibi, who played familiar tunes, such as Carly Simon’s smash hit, “You’re So Vain.”

The popular event is free, including free parking, and was the first of several more “Fridays in the Forge” events happening on Main Street over the duration of the Summer and slightly into Fall. Upcoming dates include July 28th, August 18th, and finally, September 29th. Each event runs from 6 p.m.-9 p.m. and will continue to include live music from “Alibi,” adult refreshments, and something for the kids including sidewalk chalk, face painting, games, etc.
