Alleghany Highlands Arts And Crafts Center

Founded in 1984, the goal of the Alleghany Highlands Arts and Crafts Center is to, “encourage your interest in and enjoyment of the visual arts of the Alleghany Highlands, and to have some fun in the process.”

The rotating gallery features a wide variety of handmade pieces created by artists “whose work can be enjoyed by Alleghany Highlands residents and visitors alike.”

The Alleghany Highlands Arts and Crafts Center sponsors several exhibits each year, including the Fall Festival, which features a full range of media, and Fx2, which features regional photography. The annual Artist Residency for High School Students program sponsors a high school art competition, as well as the occasional Christmas-themed exhibit.

According to volunteers, “The Center offers the best of regionally handmade craft-works in traditional and contemporary styles. It’s a great place for artisans to market their work to the world around us.”

The Alleghany Highlands Arts and Crafts Center is located in the “heart of the historic district of downtown Clifton Forge,” at 439 E. Ridgeway Street, Clifton Forge, Virginia. The Center’s May through December hours are Monday through Saturday, from 10 a.m. until 4:30 p.m. They can be reached at 540-862-4447, or by visiting highlandsartsandcraft.org.

“The Alleghany Highlands Arts and Crafts Center is supported by its supporters, members, the town of Clifton Forge, the city of Covington, the county of Alleghany, the Alleghany Foundation, the Virginia Commission for the Arts and the National Endowment for the Arts.”
